Thermal Baths on Lake Klopein

Architecture competition

The Felsentherme Klopeinersee is embedded in the graceful southern Carinthian tourism landscape and can convince with the unique combination of a thermal spa with a lake in front of it.

In today’s market situation, it is particularly important to project a spa independently and distinctively. The visit must be an extraordinary experience of all senses. The architecture should bring out the strengths of the location and create an unforgettable identity.

The projected site is located approximately in the middle of the lake. It is ideally accessible by a short route from all hotels and is crossed by the busy lakeside promenade. The 300 parking spaces are unobtrusively integrated into the forest.

The concept of the spa is based on raising the large water basin above the level of the promenade. This allows visitors to see the magnificent mountain panorama reflected in the nearby lake.

The visitor is, as it were, moved out of his everyday level and floats in the water above the lake. The basic shape of the two rocks that rise up to the left and right of the pool focuses the view even more on the landscape.

The central area of the adventure pool is the slide, which is also the source. The water roars down into the pool from the upper level, with the children right behind. Other water themes are housed in small enclosed bathing areas in the „feet“ of the rocks. Here you’ll find a flower bath, a love grotto and a fire bath.

The entire bath is laid out somewhat labyrinthine. This provides the guest with enough retreat areas, relaxation zones and niches. On busy days, these hidden zones are particularly pleasant.
